For adults and children – a day immersed in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea and beyond. Inaugurated in 2010, the Cala Gonone Aquarium is a source of pride for our beautiful country.Immersed in the Mediterranean maquis, amidst centuries-old olive trees, facing the picturesque Cala Gonone bay, the aquarium was designed 17 years ago by architect Peter Chermayeff, who had already designed the Lisbon Oceanarium, the Osaka Aquarium and the Genoa Aquarium.A modern structure that blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape, initially equipped with five tanks and later expanded to 25 tanks with the second design by Architect Sebastiano Gaias, helping to create a true scientific and educational centre of excellence. In addition to the tanks, it has numerous spaces such as a reception area, exhibition halls, educational rooms, quarantine areas for fish and a laboratory for biological analyses. The exhibition tour, which lasts about 2 hours, will take you on a journey of discovery of the marine habitats of the Mediterranean Sea and also of the Tropical Seas, telling us how atolls and coral reefs originate. There are different types of guided tours, one of which will allow you to share some of the daily operations of the aquarium staff. The Cala Gonone Aquarium is open from 10 am to 6 pm from Wednesday to Sunday in April and every day in May, June, July and September.Prices and Fees: Adults: 10€, Children 4-12: 6,50€, Children (0-3): free. After visiting the aquarium, you can also visit the many archaeological and natural sites in the Dorgali area.
