The Atha Ruja Poderi was founded in the early 90s by the passionate heirs of two generations of winemakers. Amid the scents, tradition, and love for viticulture, the two founders participated in the grape harvest as children, picking grapes and placing them in small wattle baskets during the coolest hours of the morning. Deposited on juniper wood vats and placed in carts pulled by oxen yokes, the baskets were finally taken to the cellar for vinification.
The winery operates sustainable viticulture, founded on respect for the balance of the Ecosystem and based on high quality cultivation principles such as manual peeling and short pruning (low number of buds, which limits the production of grapes per plant) which enhance the quality and varietal characteristics of the grapes. All the work in the vineyard is carried out manually. The harvest is done exclusively by hand on small 15Â kg crates, in the coolest hours of late September.
